The VUSD guest speaker from the Child Nutritional Food Services provided us with background information about our school's lunch program; which was established in 1946. The original goal for this program was to make sure that future soldiers were healthy enough to join. The program now helps to support the school. The reimbursement rates for each lunch sold can be found on the presentation provided by the guest speaker. She also gives interesting facts; for example she states that 32% of children and adolescents are overweight and 16% are obese. Many of these children hardly eat healthy or nutritional foods, or get a meal once a day. The lunch menu is designed to help these students get the right nutrition. A menu is provided below:

Our group has agreed that although difficult, it is vital that you consume the proper amount of nutrients in order to stay healthy. This is especially important for students because they must go to school for long hours at a time and need to be able to perform at their top condition.
